About us
St Helens Parent Carer Forum
Listen 4 Change is the name of your Parent Carer Forum.
We are a group of volunteer parent carers who work with the Local Authority, NHS Integrated Care Board, education, health and other service providers to make sure the services that they plan and deliver meet the needs of children and young people with SEND and their families.
Listen 4 Change is an active forum with passionate and committed members who want to work with local service providers to ensure they meet the needs of local families. We are supported by Contact, are part of NNPCF and have strong links with local parent carer support and play groups and a range of other organisations supporting local families.
What We Do
What is a Parent Carer Forum?
- It is a group of parent carers of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
- The role of Listen 4 Change is ensuring that the voices and lived experiences of parent carers and their children are shared with the Local Authority, Intergrated Care Board and other service providers.
- It is funded by the Department for Education to help us achieve our aims.
What a Parent Carer Forum does:
- We work with and alongside but independently from our Local Authority, Education and Health Services.
- We gather the collective voices and lived experiences of children and young people with SEND aged 0-25. Through co-production we bring that voice into meetings to improve the quality of services.
- We signpost to services, share information, run events and hold an Annual General Meeting.
A Parent Carer Forum is not:
- A support group. This is not the function of a Parent Carer Forum.
- A campaign group. Nor are we able to take part in campaign activity.
- Able to take on individual cases or views. The role of a Parent Carer Forum is to be the collective voice of St Helens Parent Carers.
Help your Parent Carer Forum:
- By joining their membership.
- By completing polls and survey, attending consultations, events and workshops.
- By becoming a Parent Carer Representative or a Steering Group Member.
